Maib supports the launch of the first agro-weather platform for Moldovan farmers

With the support of maib, Agrobiznes and iMetos launched the first agro-weather platform for small and medium producers in the Republic of Moldova.

Agrobiznes Meteo - www.meteo.agrobiznes.md - is an innovative project designed to solve the problem of carrying out treatments or works without considering the actual situation on the ground, based on previous years' experience.

Thanks to dozens of weather stations located throughout the country, the Agrobiznes Meteo platform provides manufacturers with real-time information about:

  • Soil and air temperature;
  • Soil moisture;
  • Precipitation level;
  • The risk of developing diseases;
  • Risk of pest development.

In this way, farmers will know what is happening in the area where their agricultural fields are located, when it is necessary to intervene with a specific work or to carry out treatments on crops.

Agrobiznes Meteo platform is developed in partnership with maib, a leader in the banking sector in the Republic of Moldova.

"By supporting the Agrobiznes Meteo platform, we aim to be even closer to agricultural producers and maib customers, giving them absolutely free access to information so necessary for the proper conduct of agricultural activity. We believe that efficient agriculture can be carried out by applying modern technologies and having access to the widest possible information about weather and climate conditions. Likewise, it can be done with quality technique and timely financing. We, the maib team, are together to provide everything that agricultural producers need, who aim to practice efficient agriculture and grow their business to the next level of development and profitability ", Andrii Glevațskyi, maib vice president.

"The Agrobiznes Meteo platform confirms our commitment to give a new impetus to agriculture in the Republic of Moldova, presenting efficient digital solutions. Given the climate change and the impact of the unreasonable use of pesticides, carrying out treatments and work at the right time becomes paramount. Manufacturers will have free access to some important and accurate data generated by weather stations thanks to the sensors they are equipped with, no matter where they are, being able to monitor 24/24 what is happening in the field. We believe that the results of this project will exceed the initial estimates, because we all want a sustainable and advantageous agriculture ", says Sergiu Jaman, the founder of Agrobiznes.

The data collected from the sensors are continuously delivered to the Agrobiznes Meteo platform, thanks to the Agrobiznes - iMetos partnership. Farmers are always up to date with information about the weather.

"Agrobiznes Meteo is a unique project that aims to help all Moldovan farmers to adapt their technologies according to the weather. This, in the long run, leads to a reduction in production costs and the impact of agriculture on the environment. Through the platform all farmers will have access to data such as temperatures, rainfall, disease forecasting and more. These are absolutely necessary for agricultural producers and I am very happy that, thanks to the project, the management of works and treatments will be significantly improved and that iMetos is part of these changes ", says Sergiu Smocinschi, iMetos Country Director.
