Maib recognised by UN Women Moldova for workplace excellence

Leaders, national and international experts, as well as representatives of the business community from Moldova and Europe, gathered at the National Conference on the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) to discuss how we can create workplaces where people have equal opportunities, feel supported and can develop their potential.

Participants shared experiences and examples of good practice, based on women’s real needs: to be valued, to have opportunities for development and to find understanding at important moments in their lives.

During the panel discussion The Workplace of the Future: What Will Help People and Businesses Thrive?, Svetlana Bodaci, HR Director at maib, spoke about the support offered to mothers and expectant mothers, workplace flexibility and solutions that help them balance family life with professional development:

“The arrival of a child is a joyful occasion, and the care and understanding shown by the team can make this period easier. For us, a healthy and friendly working environment is built on empathy, trust and attention to the needs of every colleague.”

At maib, equal opportunities are part of the organisational culture. Women make up 65% of the middle management team and 44% of the executive management team. Beyond the figures, however, what matters is each colleague’s experience: the confidence to take the next step in their career and the assurance that they have support when they need it.

At the WEPs conference, maib received the Workplace Excellence Award 2026 in the category Workplace Inclusion for Sustainable Business. The award recognises the efforts made to build an environment where people feel valued, respected and have equal opportunities for development.

We would like to thank UN Women Moldova for organising this dialogue and the participants for sharing their experiences. We hope that the ideas discussed will be adopted by increasingly more organisations, through simple gestures of understanding and solutions that meet people’s real needs.
