On March 21, in observance of World Down Syndrome Day, maib joined the campaign encouraging individuals affected by this genetic condition for the first time. Maib team accepted the challenge creatively and energetically: they wore mismatched socks, symbolizing solidarity, diversity, and the spirit of inclusion.
The colourful, mismatched socks are more than just an accessory – they represent a celebration of the chromosomal uniqueness of individuals with Down Syndrome and send a message of acceptance and respect. In a simple yet impactful way, maib conveyed its commitment to diversity and inclusion, core values that guide the bank’s culture.
Doina Fetco, Marketing Director at maib:
“From Christmas sweaters and national costumes to outfits celebrating diversity, maib always encourages the team to express themselves creatively. This year, we chose to show our support for individuals with Down Syndrome through a symbolic gesture by wearing mismatched socks. Through this, we aim to highlight that every person is unique and deserves our respect.”
Additionally, maib team shared images of their mismatched socks on social media, using the hashtags #WeAreAllDifferent and #RockYourSocks to spread the message of awareness and support.
The campaign is inspired by Ludmila Adamciuc, the mother of Beatrice, a little girl with Down Syndrome, and President of the NGO “Prietena Mea”, a maib customer.
Furthermore, this initiative aligns with maib’s corporate social responsibility policy and is part of the bank’s ongoing devotion to promoting a diverse and inclusive environment where everyone is accepted and appreciated.
