This year MAIB also climbed onto the performance podium, being designated “Bank of the year 2020” in the Republic of Moldova by the prestigious British financial magazine The Banker, part of the Financial Times group.
The Banker Awards are one of the highest awards in the banking industry, recognizing excellence and performance, added value in customer service, innovation and leadership in the communities where banks operate worldwide.
According to the publication experts, 2020 brought unprecedented challenges to the banking sector. The sector has been an essential pillar for providing stability and access to vital services at these critical times. Experts have emphasized this year that banking institutions have folded their strategies to meet customer needs and have maintained their resilience to the pandemic.
“For Moldova Agroindbank it is an honour to receive this essential international award from the banker and be on the prize podium alongside the best banks in the world. Indeed, the high distinction is a reconfirmation of the efforts made to support customers in this not-so-simple period, the solid business model, and the banking innovations. Although 2020 is a challenging year in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has also offered us multiple opportunities to serve our customers even remotely, thanks to our dedication to digitalization. I dedicate this trophy to Moldova Agroindbank customers because they chose to do banking together with the best bank in Moldova, to employees and shareholders, for professionalism and trust", said Serghei Cebotari, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Moldova Agroindbank, on the occasion of receiving The Banker Award.
The Banker, founded in 1926, is focused on banking and financial markets. Every year, the Banker is awarded excellence in more than 100 countries in the banking sector.
The Banker Award is the fourth international award for Moldova Agroindbank in 2020. Previously, MAIB received the title "best Digital Bank Moldova" from Global Banking and Finance review experts, being appreciated as the most digitized bank in Moldova. "The best bank in Moldova by asset quality", "the best bank in Moldova by profit before taxes", and "the best bank in Moldova by capitalization in 2019" – are the distinctions granted by Finance Central Europe, which thoroughly analyzed the portfolio and financial indicators of MAIB. In the opinion of Global Finance, Moldova Agroindbank will be "The Best Bank in Moldova" in 2020.
At the local level, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova awarded MAIB the "Golden Mercury" award for the nominations "socially responsible trademark" and "reputation and trust", as well as the "Crystal Mercurul" award for the nomination "Debut of the Year" for the release of LiberCard.
