#better together. Good Deeds week, marked by the maib team

Between November 13 and 17, the "National Week of Kindness" campaign takes place in Moldova, highlighting the importance of good deeds done for the community by each of us. The campaign is in its third edition and promotes collaboration between people, sharing of good practices, creating contexts for good deeds, personal and corporate philanthropy to solve social problems.

Currently, maib has 2400 employees and ambassadors of good deeds, who, by joining forces, have contributed to several non-profit initiatives made from the heart of people and society. So in the context of the "National Week of Kindness", we decided to make a retrospective of the most important CSR projects carried out in recent years, which made us #better together.

In the context of World Blood Donor Day, every year, maib employees get actively involved. For 3 years, we collected 98 litres and 500 millilitres of blood components, which was enough to save 656 people.

Another initiative carried out with love for the community is participating in the "Table of Joy" campaign, organized nationwide by the Social Mission "Diaconia" on the eve of the Easter holidays.

Maib volunteers encouraged shoppers in stores in Chișinău and in other regions of the country to donate food products to give people in need a warm meal and a reason to smile during the holidays.

Over the past few years, maib has shown its support and involvement in education, organizing various public lessons and financial education events. During these events, maib top experts share helpful information with pupils and students across the country. Several thousand pupils and students went home with more financial knowledge this year alone.

At the same time, in recent years, the maib team has literally been active, participating in a series of charity sports events organized by the primary palliative care provider in Moldova - Hospice Angelus Moldova. Among the events supported by maib are:

  • Annual Hospice Angelus Moldova Football Cup, organized for charity to support people with life-limiting diagnoses;
  • The #FocLaGhetePeBiclete race, aimed at raising funds for patients in need of palliative care;
  • The Hospice Angelus Moldova table tennis tournament, organized to raise funds to provide palliative care services to children and adults suffering from incurable diseases.

One of the most important traditions in the list of good deeds carried out by the maib team is supporting the initiative to redirect 2% of the annual income tax to non-governmental organisations. This initiative allows us to do good things in social areas such as sport, art, education, people in need or children from low-income families.

Another maib project is planting the maib forest, now in its third year. During the three editions of the planting, 8 600 trees have been planted in Cruzești, which, according to estimates, will help sequester 400 tonnes of CO2 over 40 years. At the same time, the maib forest has been extended on land at high risk of landslides and degradation in Cruzești and is the first forest planted in the locality.

During the most uncertain times in recent years, maib has worked hard to respond with responsiveness and empathy to difficulties in the community. Therefore, in the context of the electricity shortage, maib has implemented several actions to reduce electricity consumption in offices, including disconnecting decorative and advertising lighting in the branch network and central offices.

In the context of challenging times in recent years, maib people have been involved in voluntary actions to help Ukrainian refugees at the Moldexpo Triage Center, where a mobile point where refugees could receive bank cards was also organized together with Mastercard. At the same time, maib made donations to the account opened by the Ministry of Finance to support refugees from Ukraine.

Recently, maib has undergone several significant changes, including image and design, with many previously used assets, such as computers, furniture, decorations and others, being donated to schools, municipalities, and charities in the country, thus giving them a second chance to be used.

Last but not least, maib promotes the values and activities of the "National Kindness Week" Campaign. For the second year in a row, the maib team tells businesses how to do CSR, providing valuable information and encouraging them to do good deeds.

Thus, maib is committed to continuing the activities of the CSR projects and expresses its support for all those who plan to join the initiatives mentioned or find themselves in other social impact activities.

Let's be #better together and make our world more generous and beautiful!
