Maib is strengthening its commitment to building an inclusive and family-friendly work environment through a new initiative dedicated to employees and their children. To this end, maib aims to create a safe and comfortable space for children over the age of 6, where they can learn, play, and spend time after school or during school breaks.
The initiative was announced at a public event organized on October 15 by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova, in partnership with UNFPA and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, with financial support from the Government of Austria. This is part of the project “Building Women’s Resilience and Excellence through Inclusive and Family-Friendly Employment Opportunities”.
For maib, the creation of this space represents a concrete step toward a supportive environment that takes into account the real needs of employees and supports a balance between work and family life. The initiative aims to give parents greater peace of mind during work hours and provide children with a place where they can feel safe, discover new things, and enjoy their time.
Svetlana Bodaci, maib’s Human Resources Director, stated:
“We believe that a work environment where people feel supported begins with understanding what matters to them beyond their professional responsibilities. Family is one of those important aspects. Through this initiative, we want to give our colleagues greater peace of mind, knowing that their children also have a safe and friendly place to spend their time. At maib, our care for people is also reflected in the way we respond to their real needs.”
Ludmila Sîrbu, UNFPA Deputy Representative in the Republic of Moldova, emphasized:
“Women should not have to choose between family and career. When they have access to childcare services and flexible work arrangements, more women can return to work and continue their professional development. In a country where fewer and fewer children are being born and the population is aging, it is essential to create conditions in which people can raise their children without giving up professional opportunities. Investments in family-friendly policies are investments in people’s well-being, in human capital, and in the demographic and economic future of the Republic of Moldova.”
Through this initiative, maib aims to turn care for employees into concrete support. The next steps will focus on developing the concept and preparing the space designated for children.
The project “Building Women’s Resilience and Excellence through Inclusive and Family-Friendly Employment Opportunities” is implemented by UNFPA and UN Women, in partnership with the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova, with financial support from the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).
Running from 2026 to 2028 in Chișinău, Bălți, Cimișlia, Hîncești, and Strășeni, the project supports the adoption of family-friendly policies, the development of childcare services, and the promotion of inclusive employment opportunities for women.
