Maib and Mastercard are launching a new bank card for children and teenagers between the ages of 7 and 17. The mission of the maib junior card is to help parents teach their children how to manage money, guiding their first steps in banking and financial freedom.
Maib junior is a regular "adult" Mastercard card with a contactless chip and the child's name on it. It can be used for payments both physically in stores and online. The card opens as an additional one linked to the bank account of one of the parents. Parents can manage and set a monthly spending limit of up to MDL 5,000.
