Maib is donating life- more and more every year

There are some traditions within maib which we saintly hold every year, not out of duty but because they are already part of us, and we are glad to share good deeds. Year after year, on June 14, we celebrate World Blood Donor Day, one of the dearest holidays for the maib team.

Some of them for the first time, others already losing count of the number of times donating blood or plasma - 77 maib heroes  participated in the internal blood donation event organized by maib and the National Blood Transfusion Center. Overall, more than 50 liters of blood and blood derivatives were donated by the maib employees, each milliliter being offered with love and hope.

"I started being a life donor in the pandemic year 2020. Looking at the benefits, I do not know why I did not do it before. At maib, I donated every time the bank organized such events. I do it with the hope that this deed will help someone in his or her fight for life. It is one of the few things we can do without asking or expecting anything in return," said Elena Negru, Head of Private Banking Products who donated plasma with a smile on her face.

The good deed would not have been possible without the support and help of the National Blood Transfusion Center, referring both to the technical part but especially to the professional and friendly medical staff who assisted each donor and created pleasant experiences for each and every of them.

Iulia Bogușevschi, Head of Corporate Communication at maib, confessed that inspired by the initiative of the maib team, this year, she overcame her fear and donated blood for the first time.

"In the maib team, good deeds are something usual. Since 2020, we have carried out regular blood donation actions, year after year the number of heroes and ambassadors of good deeds increasing. It was a fantastic experience for several reasons. Firstly, the National Blood Transfusion Center team was cautious, acted professionally, and the love for people and for what they were doing was seen in every action. Secondly, the number of colleagues coming to the specially aranged area for blood collection was increasing, and their enthusiasm led me to the thought that it was not necessary to wear a cape to be a hero. I was proud to be one of them. Thirdly, I thought of the person in distress who I could help with my blood giving him a chance at life. I want to continue to be the invisible hero to someone and regularly donate blood."

In addition to the satisfaction of being a lifesaver, blood donation also offers countless health benefits, reducing the likelihood of cardiovascular disease by up to 30% and strengthening the immune system.

Surprisingly, not only the maib employees ventured to become the Heroes of the Day, but also some customers who passed by and wanted to be supportive and empathetic, joining the blood donation act, once again confirming the alignment between maib values and those of the bank's customers.
