Maib employees participated in the Rubicon 2024 ultramarathon, running from Chisinau to Bucharest

Confucius said, "Wherever you go, do it with all your heart," and maib people follow this advice with inspiration and conviction. As sport is one of the most beloved passions of maib people, from March 22 to 24, the bank's employees participated in the Rubicon ultramarathon, where they had the opportunity to rediscover themselves and achieve daring personal goals.

This year's edition of the Rubicon competition started at the Arch of Triumph in Chisinau and culminated at the Arch of Triumph in Bucharest, connecting the capitals of the two countries through sports.

During the race, the participants covered a route of 478 kilometres, running through 5 districts of the Republic of Moldova and 5 counties of Romania. The entire route was divided into 46 stages, with each district or county having 1 to 10 stages. Participants had to run at least one stage in that county or district to get a medal.

Maib team was represented at the competition by 9 employees, members of the "maib activ la superlativ” community, who demonstrated that dedication, will and team spirit can make the most ambitious aspirations a reality.

Andrei Urzîca, Business Banking Customer Relationship Manager, leader of the "maib activ la superlativ” community:
"The best moment was seeing colleagues who were initially sceptical overcome their limits and conquer new distances. So far, this is the biggest race I have participated in, and I am sure it will not be the last, as my motivation remains to strengthen the team spirit further and reach new horizons with the members of the maib superlatives community."

Vadim Martalog, merchandiser at maib:
"The route was challenging because of the high altitude and speed, but it was something new and unique even for those who practised the sport. The atmosphere and interaction between us were great. We supported each other and enjoyed the beautiful sunrise. I can say that we left Chisinau as strangers and arrived in Bucharest as a family.

I didn't meet my goal of running 200 kilometres, but I ran 146. Indeed, during the marathon, I didn't plan to participate in such races again, but now I think I will repeat the experience."

In addition to promoting a healthy lifestyle, the Rubicon ultramarathon is a way to strengthen the relationship and collaboration between the Republic of Moldova and Romania and overcome their own limits for running enthusiasts.

We remind you that on March 27, another event will be organised in Bucharest, with the same fundamental goal of creating bridges of cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Romania - the 2nd edition of the Moldova - Romania Forum: Capital Bridges. The event is organised by the Bucharest Stock Exchange in partnership with WOOD & Co, Raiffeisen Bank International, EBA, AmCham and maib.
