Dear customer,
Informed means protected.
Be cautious if you receive a message about a 'parcel' that cannot be 'delivered'. These messages prompt you to go to a link to a website claiming to be from a trusted institution and provide confidential data (bank card data or other personal information) so you can receive the supposed parcel. These links are usually malicious, and providing your information can lead to fraudulent theft of funds from your account.
Such an online scam scenario is called smishing, and scammers most commonly use it on behalf of institutions such as Poșta Moldovei, Nova Poshta, etc.
So, here are some things that maib anti-fraud experts recommend keeping in mind when you receive such suspicious messages:
- pay attention to the address/name of the sender of the message: if the message is claimed to be sent by Poșta Moldovei, the name of the sender shall be appropriate, without any dubious additional letters and figures;
- do not click on links or attachments in these SMS or other messages received from unknown and unverified addresses;
- never provide your card data - card number, CVV, PIN or expiry date;
- check the website sections, name, and contact details to make sure that the websites where you are asked to enter your card data are not fake.
If you suspect someone has obtained your personal information, block your card immediately via the maibank mobile app or call 1313. Please notify us of any suspicious situation on the same number or infofraud@maib.md
