We have created this website to keep you up to date with the prevention and support measures taken by maib in the context of the situation caused by COVID-19.

Your bank in the comfort of your house

We want you and your loved ones to be safe. We recommend avoiding crowded places during this period, including maib branches, opting for digital services, available 24/7, to quickly and easily perform a multitude of banking operations from a distance:

  • maibank - allows individuals to perform dozens of banking operations: account view, transfers, loan installments, payment of invoices, etc.
  • Internet Banking - allows clients of individuals and legal entities to perform a wide range of banking operations, including account management, payment of loan installments, foreign exchange operations, etc.
  • Multifunctional terminals - allow cash transactions and are at your disposal in the 24/24 service areas of the maib and the bank's branches.
  • p2p.maib.md - the platform that allows you to transfer to other people instantly.
  • t2c.maib.md - access the platform anytime and wherever you are; follow the steps indicated, and your remittances will be transferred to your bank card in a few seconds.

To make payments online or in supermarkets, we recommend using bank cards. This easy-to-use tool does not pose a risk of infection compared to banknotes. The POS terminal network allows convenient and fast card payment, thanks to the contactless technology of thousands of merchants. At ATMs you withdraw cash in national and foreign currency to fund your personal and third party accounts. Cash-in ATMs also give you the option to cash in on your business card account. More recently, at maib ATMs, foreign exchange operations can be performed in foreign currency (euro or US dollars) in Moldovan lei.

  • it is a sign of responsibility to disinfect your hands at the entrance to the branch, using the particular solution made available to customers;

For your safety and that of the bank's employees, the disinfection of the spaces in the maib branches and the offices of the headquarters are ensured.

Solutions – individuals

  • Loans

Maib postponed until May 31, 2020, the payment of loan installments, including interest, supporting its clients in the situation caused by COVID-19. According to the decision, the payment of installments on loans, including interest, for March, April and May 2020 was transferred to June 2020. The bank excluded any penalty or interest on arrears for the amounts given.

In June 2020, customers were offered two options:

  • payment of credit instalments and accrued interest for the period March-June;
  • drawing up a new repayment schedule, convenient for the client, based on an application submitted to the bank. The bank modified the loan repayment schedule without charging the commission provided for the modification.
  • Deposits

Deposits of individuals, which expired between April 1 and May 15, 2020, have been automatically extended.

  • Cards

  • Exclusion of penalties (late payment interest) for outstanding amounts accumulated between March 19 and May 31, 2020, on loans granted to legal entities.
  • Possibly change the loan repayment schedules for March-May 2020 at the individual request of customers.
  • Exclusion of the commission provided for the amendment procedure. If customers request early repayment, the bank does not charge a fee for this transaction.
  • Decreasing the interest rate, valid until December 31, 2020. Maib has extended the term of uninterrupted use of the overdraft to the current account from 30 to 90 days.

  • Use of safety boxes

During the situation caused by COVID-19, maib suspended the keeping the goods in safes service. An exception is the consultation of the tapes by the existing customers and the termination/extension of the current contracts.

Vaccination against COVID-19

Our employees, customers, and partners' health and safety are one of our top priorities as an employer. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have provided the team with protective masks, disinfectants, visors, intervened with measures to disinfect the spaces, respected the social distance, and organized the work from a distance.

Because we care, we continue to take all measures to protect against COVID-19. We encourage vaccination of the maib team, facilitating access to the vaccine, organizing vaccination marathons, and providing several benefits to employees who choose to be vaccinated and safe. More than 60% of maib employees are already vaccinated with the complete scheme, and their number is growing every day.

Corporate social responsibility

Because we care, the maib team decided from the beginning to support the medical sector at the forefront of fighting the pandemic. We have started acting responsibly in the community and joining forces to help doctors, patients, society.

In 2020, we donated MDL 500,000 to the Clinical Hospital for Infectious Diseases "Toma Ciorba" for the material support of the medical staff involved in the fight against COVID-19 and the purchase of vital medical equipment and consumables.

At the beginning of 2021, we supported the "Easy Breathing" project, contributing to purchasing two devices for non-invasive BiPAP type ventilation.

In May 2021, we chose to mark 30 years since the bank's founding by giving a gift to society - intensive care medical equipment and devices worth 1,000,000 MDL, donated to the Institute of Emergency Medicine and thus rewarding the community for choice, trust and development.

The devices were purchased due to consultations with practitioners in the field of intensive care, being helpful and extremely necessary both in the period determined by COVID-19 and post-pandemic. By default, they were donated:

  • five intermittent pneumatic compression devices for the prevention of venous thrombosis - for the first time purchased in our country;
  • five cannons of hot air for heating the patient (unique to IMU, in the country, there are only five at the time of donation);
  • 10 High Flow Oxygen Therapy devices.

We continue to support the medical sector, with the certainty that together, we are more robust in the face of the pandemic.
